Ch. 4 Air Scare

Recap: Ch. 3 (Hatred)

"What do you want Joshua?"
"I just came to check on you"
     "I am okay"
"Are you sure?" he said looking at me knowing I was lying
"Yes Joshua I'll be fine I just wanna be alone right now."
"Okay" he said walking away with his head down
I closed my door and went to lay down. Thinking I had to call my grandma more so now because I can't stay here any longer.

I sat in my room starring at the walls. For some reason I couldn't cry anymore. All I could do was sit still and think, and stare at this blank wall. Why couldn't my life be erased? Why did I have to go through all of this alone? Yes, I have my brother, but he's only 7 so I can't really talk to him.
Just as I went to pick up the house phone that was always in my room because my mom and Josh never answered it, it rang. It was m grandma. She always had a way of knowing when I needed her.
     "Hello?"
     "Brooke?"
     "Yes?"
"Why didn't you answer your phone? I didn't get it for you not to use."
"I'm sorry grandma, I left it on the couch in the living room."
'Well, why didn't you go and get it? You're the only teenager I know that doesn't keep their cell phone with them at all times."
I began to laugh, she always tells me that because she gets worried when she doesn't hear from me. Why can't my mom be that way? "Grandma, I'm fine, how are you?"
"Well, I'm good baby, just waiting for you to come visit me soon. I've been counting down. You know there's only a week left before I get to see my favorite gran-daughter?"
     "Granny, I'm your only gran-daughter..."
She chuckled a bit, "Don't you think I know that? That's why you're my favorite girl."
This woman is so sweet, I just don't understand how my mom could be her's, "Well granny...I have to tell you something..."
"Well, what is it child? Spit it out."
     "Ummm...umm..."
     "What?"
     "I wrecked the car."
"What?! Are you okay? What happened?"
I began to tell her the story, except I cut out the parts that made my mom look bad. It's just so hard for me to tell my grandma that my mother does drugs. I want to leave, but something in me can't let my mother feel the abandonment that I feel all the time.
" Well, I'm sure glad that you are okay."
"Yea, but um I just wanted to know, can Joshua come with me to New York to stay with you...for the Summer?"  I wanted so badly to leave here forever, but I couldn't.
"Oh, sure, he's my gran-baby too! He can come if he wants. I just never knew that he wanted to come all along."
"So, you'll get his plane ticket!?" I was so happy.
     "Well, yes. I got yours didn't I?"
I was so excited that I could leave this hell hole for a few months, without having to leave my brother. He could finally meet my best friends Amber and Levi too! Then, he could pay with Levi's little brother Keith.
My grandma and I hang up the phone and I sat in my room waiting for the week to pass by. I was so ready to go to New York with my grandma and my friends.

Reading Break!!!! (for all my lazy readers, perk up -o-) it's time for random fun)

Now that that's over lets get back to the story :)

It was the night before Joshie and I were supposed to catch our plane to New York early the next morning, and something told me to go check if Joshua had his bags packed properly.
     "Joshie?!"
     "Yes?"
"Where is your duffel bag? Bring it to me," Neither me nor Joshua had told mom and Josh that we were both going to New York. Besides, if we held it off they would have to let Joshie go because my mom hates to waste money. Ironic huh?
"Here...what do you want it for? I already packed it," he said with the cutest little smile.
The bag was so heavy that I kind of believed him. I looked in his bag only to see snacks, toys, a pair of underwear, and a picture if me, mom, him, and Josh.
"Joshie, this is all you packed," I laughed, "What about your clothes???"
"What I need all that stuff too??? Mom always tells me to bring clean undies?"
I got up and packed his bag for him and as I finally zipped up the bag I turned to see that creep Josh standing behind me in the door way.
"So, why are you packing my son's bag? Are you planning to run away with him or something," he said with a stank attitude.
"Umm..." I was stuck because were were caught , and i really wanted to tell him es badly but I couldn't because then he would never let Joshie leave with me.
"Well? Aye Bleu! Come talk to your daughter."
In comes my mom acting like she cares, "What is this?"
"Well, see, i asked grandma and she already bought the ticket so Joshie can come to New York too," I said all in one breath.
"But honey," my mom said, "At lease we'll get the house to ourselves for thr Summer and besides she already bought the ticket."
"Yea, well she could have at least told us but I guess he can go."
When we woke up it was raining and Joshie hates the lightening and thunder. So, we hopped in a cab and then boarded the plan.
"Would you hold me Brooke, I don't like this stuff."
"Yea," and I held Joshua until he feel back to sleep because it was pretty early in the morning. I was so sleepy and that I just sat there looking out the window.
It was slightly amazing and scary how close the lightening was. Then suddenly the plane began to shake so I just held on to Joshua tighter and..... there was a big BOOM! the plane was shaking harder and the thunder and lightening seemed to be using the plane for target practice.
Then next thing I know PLACKOW!!!
