Chapter 8: Change of Plans

Recap: Amber told Brooke about this new guy she got head from but won’t tell Brooke who it is. Basically, Brooke and Amber have a girls night talking about boys mostly and Brook finally mentions Justin the guy she met at the airport. Amber talks Brooke into texting him and she finally does but he never replied so they fell asleep. Amber woke Brooke up because her phone kept going off. It was her grandma she wanted them to come by and help with planning Brooke’s sweet 16. They agreed to meet at 1pm. Finally Brooke got a text from Justin, he called her beautiful they set a date at Dylan’s candy bar on Friday at 7pm. (I don’t know why he said Friday when he could have just said today at 7, maybe he’s just cute that way). She was all happy but she’d forgotten she had to meet her grandma at 1 so her and Amber took off.
“Yeah…..Oh shoot what time are we supposed to be at your house?”
“What time is it?”
“Its 12:50!”
“Oh shit we gotta go!”

Now let’s speed this sh*t up a bit.
So Brooke and Amber get to Brooke’s grandma’s house and her grandma kinda talks a little shit to them for making her wait on them for so long (it was only like 10 minutes though -_- “Damn”). Amber was talking to Brooke’s grandma about what she thought the party needed to be the “hottest of the year” and Brooke just was sitting there trying to get a word in but she couldn’t because Amber had ALL of the ideas. Finally Brooke got tired of trying to put her input into HER birthday party plans, no excuse me it’s a “birthday bash because parties are for children” according to Amber. So, neither Amber nor Brooke’s grandma noticed when Brooke slipped out of the room and to the din to take a “quick nap” since they were so occupied.
************************************************
I was so tired since I never got to go back to sleep, and I’m sure Amber was capable of guiding my grandma to the greatest sweet 16 her best friend could ever have. So, I layed down on the little couch my brother kept saying looked like it belonged in a therapist’s office. I wonder what he and Papi were doing…
The Beyhive was super busy today and we had all been in recovery over the past few days due to the slaying of our souls by the Queen Bey during her Revel show. I mean it was so damn epic that this one Bey had gotten its wing snatched and it had to be sewn back on! There was so much dragging to be done. There had been rumors that those damned angry birds were hatin’ and trying to say that Keri the Peasant Pigeon could do better. I guess it had gotten to the Queen and she was fucking tired of the bullshit so she got on the video intercom to speak with all of us. She only had one thing to say:

They had made the queen curse. It was always funny to hear her potty mouth because it wasn’t too often she did that. I mean she’s like bff’s with the president and stuff she can’t be a dirty mouth girl like that irrelevant walrus Khia that always tried to take the title Queen even thought she never could. I mean she’s a fucking walrus…you know all they do is FLOP! Flop here, flop there.
I had the best job out of the whole Beyhive  though. I just watched after my little sister Blue….
“Brooke!”
My mama was calling me, I couldn’t believe I was the daughter of Thee Queen.
“Brooke!”
“Hold on I’m coming…” All of a sudden there was a violent shaking going on in the hive!

“Brooke! Would you wake up and where are you going? We can go now, I told your grandma everything that you want for your birthday bash.”
Rubbing my eyes I finally woke up, Amber always seems to be the one that wakes me up from my dreams .
“Brooke, why do you have that weird little smile on your face?”
“Oh, nothing,” I said as I chuckled under my breath a little. That was a wild dream I had just had. Maybe I was just a little too in love with Beyoncé…Naw, what was I thinking.
“Well anyway can we go now I need to go pick up this dress and what ever happened to you telling me about what happened with Justin because I know you know I want to know. Shoot, you know all my business.”
“Yea, and I don’t either, you won’t even tell me who the guy is that you were telling me about!”
“Well, see that’s exactly not what I was talking about. I want to know about you and Justin you never talk to anybody. So….”
“So what?”
“So what happened? Hoe don’t play with me!”
“Well, we were texting and he asked me out.”
“When?
“Friday at 7?”
“Friday?! As in today?”
“It’s not Friday.”
“Ah, Yes it is!”
“What! I don’t even have anything to wear and its almost 6!”
“Well, I guess we can go shopping or something after I go get this dress,” she said as she hit the gas on the car.
“What dress? Where are you going?”
“I have to go to some ball or something I’m not really sure what it is.”
“Oh, with who? Girl slow down!”
“Oh shut up you with your scary ass. You want to make it to a store before 6:30 right?”
“Yea.’
“Well sit back relax and let mama get you there,” she said as she quickly hopped in and out of lanes.
“Well mama don’t kill me,’ I said while laughing.

We got done with everything in no time with the help of the number one bat out of hell known as Amber. She was crazy but her ass could actually drive. She always drove fast and never got into a wreck. I don’t know how she did it but I applaud her. She got me to Dylan’s at 7:05. He shouldn’t mind if I’m a little late I mean I am a girl we do have to get ready. But, little did he know I had gotten ready in a freaking car. Amber dressed me since she was good at the whole dressing thing especially with short notice too. I had on black skinny jeans, a slightly loose white tank, hot pink flats with a gold chain going across the top, and a blue blazer with blue sequins on the sleeves, that was Amber’s she had it in the backseat of the car.

I walked into Dylan’s and had a seat I didn’t see Justin anywhere. I hope he didn’t forget. I really hoped he didn’t mean next Friday. So I texted him.

I was a little nerves and I didn’t know what he would think of me. I checked my breath and hoped for the best. There were so many things running through my head. I just hoped that he would really like me. I mean so far, all I knew is that he thought that I was beautiful. That’s a plus. His freaking dad was going to buy him an expensive car just for winning a championship game. Who does that? Will I even be able to fit in with someone like that? I know my family had a little money but I don’t think we have THAT much. I finally decided to stop thinking so much and look up, and there he was… He kept calling me beautiful but damn this man was B-E-Y-utiful. He had on a white suit though and I figured that was a bit much for Dylan’s candy bar and it made me wonder what he had under those shiny cuff links. I didn’t know and didn’t care my mind was more on this fine specimen of a man standing in front of me.

I damn near drooled when he reached out to help me down off of my stool so he could give me a hug.
“Hey B.”
He called me B! I was freaking out, he was so damn fine and then he called me my fav’s name, well it was also the first letter of my name too but that’s beside the point.
“Hey, um why do you have on a whole suit? You could have told me to dress up a little more.”
“Well, that’s what I have to tell you, our date at Dylan’s is going to be cut short. I mean really short.”
My heart dropped, I knew it was too good to be true. “Why, what’s wrong?”
“Well nothing is actually wrong? I just…”
“What, tell me?”
“Ok, so I forgot that my family was supposed to have this gala tonight and I have to be there because well, it is my family.”
“Oh, ok…I understand,” I was so disappointed.
“No, see here’s the thing. I want you to come with me.”
“No, I don’t want to impose.”
“You won’t be imposing I get to bring a guest. I just normally never do because I never had anyone I wanted to bring.”
“Ummm, I don’t know. I don’t even have anything to wear.’
“It’s okay, I can even take you to get something to wear I have the money. Plus I don’t want to miss out on being with you for some boring gala my mom put together for all her snooty friends.”
“Hugh, okay I’ll go,” I just couldn’t say no to someone this fine. Plus he seemed like he really wanted me to go. I kind of hoped that I wouldn’t have to meet his family already but I guess there was a possibility that I would. I can’t believe that this man is about to make me meet his parents already! We barely have even met.

He flashed his beautiful smile and grabbed my hand taking me out of Dylan’s and to his car. He had a red 2012 Camero! Chiiiiild I almost passed out this was all happening to fast.

He took me to some boutique and got me an all-white cocktail dress that screamed sexy, with some white red bottoms that went beautifully with his suit and ruby cuff links. I pulled the front of my hair out of my face and pinned it down into the rest of it.

He just kept staring at me the whole time we were in the car and I wanted to tell him to keep his eyes on the road but hell, I was staring right back most of the time.

“You look really amazing,” he said while smiling at me like he was ready to pounce on me.
For some reason he makes me feel shy so quietly I said, “Thank you,” and smiled back.

We pulled up to this huge mansion or building, I didn’t really know which it was, and he got out and the valet came up to the door to open it for me but he quickly came around to stop the valet so he could open my door. He was such a gentleman. I stepped out of the car and he shut the door behind me. I could just feel his eyes all over my body. So, I kicked it up a notch and channeled my inner Beyoncé and switched a little as I walked slightly ahead of him and looked back at him signaling him to come on. He quickly high stepped to catch up to me and put his arm out for me to grab, so I did.

As we walked in we were directed to a ball room with a huge crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The room was filled with so many people yet it was so quiet. It seemed like everyone was barely talking over a whisper. I was admiring all of the beautiful women in their fancy cocktail dresses and expensive jewelry and shoes. I was amazed and it made me feel like I was not worthy of their company. I’m just Brooke and I’m not used to this at all. But, when I looked over at Justin those feelings all went away when he smiled at me to reassure me everything would be fine. We were just about to walk toward a table he said was for us and his family when I saw Amber!
What in the world was she doing here?

I stopped Justin and said, “Hey, hold on I know her.”
“Okay.”
“Hey Amber. What are you doing here?”
She looked shocked to see me, “Oh hey Brooke! I’m here with Levi.”
“What? Levi is here?”
“Yea, his uncle invited us to come here.”
As she was saying that, Levi came over in an all-black suit. I can’t believe Levi was wearing a suit.  I had never ever seen him in a suit before.
“Hey Brooke!?”
“Hi Levi..”
“What are you doing here?”
“Well, I’m here with Justin,” I said as I tilted my head towards Justin and smiled.
“Oh, hey, nice to meet you,” Levi said with an eyebrow raised giving the
“WHO THIS N*GGA?” look. He’s so damn protective of me.
“Nice to meet you to,” Justin said as he smiled with a puzzled yet jealous look on his face.
“He’s our best friend,” Amber and I said in unison.
“Can you get me something to drink please Justin?”
“Yea, sure. What do you want?”
“Um, I don’t know. Anything you would suggest.”
“Oh, okay.”
As soon as Justin walked away I asked Levi, “Why didn’t you ask me to go with you too,” I said to Levi.
“Well I would have but I could only invite one other person and Amber said you were on a date.”
“Oh, okay. That better be the case. I was about to say you better not be leaving me out.”
“You know I wouldn’t do that to you B,” he said as he smiled.
Amber stood up and said, “I have to go to the bathroom really quick.”
“Alright,” Levi said.
“So which unc…”
Quickly changing the subject Levi said, “Brooke I have to tell you something.”
“What?”
“Um can we step outside really quick.”
“Sure.”
So we stepped out on the balcony.
“You look really beautiful by the way,” he said as we got outside.
“Thanks. So, what did you have to talk to me about?”
“I’ve just been thinking and…”
“And what?”
“I like…” and right as he was about to tell me Justin came out onto the balcony with my drink.
“Here’s your drink B.”
“Oh, thank you,” I said as I smiled and sort of gazed into his eyes. I could hear Levi mumbling something under his breath.
“Hey so are you ready to go meet my father because my mother is off talking it up with her friends. Or as she likes to say, ‘I’m networking son,’ so you probably won't meet her today.”
I looked back at Levi and he gave me the side eyes gesturing for me to go ahead even though he wasn’t done talking to me and Justin and I went back in.
As I was walking back in I saw Amber walking toward the balcony to meet up with Levi.

I really wondered what was going on with Levi. He had changed his number for some reason that he still hasn’t told me and now he like something. I hope he wasn’t saying that he liked me because this would so be at the wrong time. I don’t know what I would do if he did. I just met Justin and I know I’m starting to like him, but Levi has been my best friend for so long and…I just don’t know. I don’t even think that I’ve ever even thought about Levi in that way since I first met him.

Now I was just really anxious to know what was going on. But, right now I had to meet Justin’s father. Everything was happening so fast.
